Heather Mills - Fool for a Divorce Client
By divorce help on Feb 11, 2008 in Divorce - General, Property Division, Celebrity Divorces
There’s a saying in law that the person who represents himself in court has a fool for a client. In this case, Heather Mills has decided to play the fool in her divorce proceedings with Sir Paul McCartney. Mills has apparently become estranged from her law firm, reportedly owes them millions of pounds in legal fees, and has now decided she’ll be her own lawyer in the fight over the marital estate.
Break out the popcorn and watch the festivities as it should be fun to watch Mills make an ass out of herself trying to cross-examine McCartney on the stand. Like most nonlawyers, expect her to be a royal pain to the judge by asking questions that are beyond the bounds of what’s permitted by law.
Here’s a tip for Heather. When in a hole, stop digging. If you can’t afford your lawyers, get someone down the food chain to represent you. Any divorce lawyer is going to be better than fending for yourself in court.
Hat tip to The Times.
